To get connected, new residents must pay a $25.00 non-refundable connection fee alongside a $100.00 refundable deposit. Monthly Billing Cycles and Due Dates

Freeport's utility billing follows a strict monthly timeline. City staff reads the local meters between the 5th and 10th of every month, billing usage by the thousands of gallons with a 2,000-gallon minimum base. Your finalized statement is mailed out by the 20th. To maintain an account in good standing, it is imperative that your full payment is submitted no later than the 5th of the following month.

Late Penalties and Disconnection Policies

Missing a due date will result in additional charges being added to your utility account. If your payment is not received by 4:00 PM on the 12th of the month, a 10 percent penalty fee is applied to your outstanding balance. Delinquent notices go out on the 13th. If the account remains unpaid by 4:00 PM on the 20th, a $40.00 delinquency fee is attached, and water services will be promptly disconnected.

To qualify, an account must have a balance under $400.00, three months of solid payment history, and no failed extensions or returned checks in the prior six months. Residents can utilize up to three extensions per calendar year by coordinating directly with the Water Department before their scheduled shut-off date.
